How stable diffusion inpainting works
Inpainting is a process used in image editing to restore missing parts of an image or to create entirely new elements in an existing image. The traditional use of inpainting is to reconstruct old, deteriorated images by removing cracks, scratches, dust spots, or red-eyes from photographs. However, with the power of AI and the Stable Diffusion model, inpainting can be used to create new elements in any part of an existing picture.
To use AI Editor for inpainting, a new project needs to be created, and the image uploaded onto the canvas. The user can then use the eraser icon to erase the part of the image they want to replace with a new element. The Generation Frame is moved to cover the erased part, and the user selects the "Inpaint/Outpaint" option, describes what they want to see, and clicks "Generate." AI Editor using the Stable Diffusion model provides four images to choose from, and the user can accept the one they like the most and continue editing.
In addition to the traditional use of inpainting, the Stable Diffusion AI model can also be used to fix small defects in an image. For instance, the Stable Diffusion model can be used to fix issues such as unnatural-looking faces or missing body parts. To use the model, the user needs to download and install the v1.5 inpainting model and create a mask using the paintbrush tool to specify the area to be regenerated. The user can then adjust the settings, such as prompt, image size, denoising strength, and batch size, to achieve different effects. Finally, the user can select the best image generated by the model and continue editing.
